Start the lesson (the Start button is grey)
Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Other browsers are not supported.
The Start button becomes active 5 minutes before the lesson. It doesn’t turn active by itself: refresh the page to see it.
Close Zoom, Teams, Skype and Discord before the lesson: they can block your camera and microphone.
Deal with an error or a lesson that won’t start
You see error 500 or 504, “lesson not available”, or the lesson won’t start for you and your students? The platform may be down. Our technical team is usually already working on it.
Wait 5 minutes, then refresh the page once.
Still not starting? Wait another 3–4 minutes and refresh one more time.
Still can’t start the lesson? Write to us in the chat with a screenshot of the error.
❗ Don’t refresh again and again. It overloads the system and slows down the fix.
After the outage you don’t need to cancel the lesson or write to us. The next day we set these lessons to Cancelled. You are still paid: the amount appears in your Salary tab as an Extra payment. Students are not charged for these lessons.
Fix my camera or microphone
Quick fixes (try these first):
Restart and rejoin: restart your device and rejoin the lesson.
Close background apps: fully close Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype and Discord.
Check browser permissions: click the padlock icon next to the address bar and set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Incognito mode: open the lesson in a Private / Incognito window. This turns off extensions (ad blockers, VPN, antivirus add-ons) that can block the stream.
Bluetooth: wireless headphones connected to your computer, not to your phone?
Physical buttons: check the camera shutter on your laptop and the mute switch on your headset cable.
Still not working? Check the settings:
Classroom settings: click the grey cogwheel icon in the bottom-left corner and check that the right camera, microphone and headset are selected.
System permissions: in your Windows or Mac privacy settings, check that Chrome or Edge may use your camera and microphone.
Windows sound (exclusive mode): Windows Sound Control Panel → Recording → Microphone Properties → Advanced → untick Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
Fix a black or blank screen
Turn off hardware acceleration: browser Settings (Chrome or Edge) → System → switch off Use hardware acceleration when available, then restart the browser.
Reconnect after my internet dropped
Switch to your phone’s mobile hotspot and rejoin the lesson. Then close the lesson as usual.
Couldn’t close the lesson after the connection dropped? See Lesson statuses, attendance & absent students.
Fix the whiteboard
The whiteboard itself works; problems almost always come from the browser. Try these steps in order:
Refresh the classroom and open the whiteboard again.
Open the lesson in an Incognito / Private window. This turns off all extensions. If the whiteboard works there, one of your extensions is blocking it.
Turn off extensions one by one, starting with ad blockers (AdBlock, uBlock), Grammarly, dark mode, translation and screen-annotation extensions. Then refresh.
Set the browser zoom to 100% (Ctrl + 0, on Mac Cmd + 0). With a different zoom, your drawing can appear in the wrong place.
Clear the browser cache: Ctrl + Shift + Delete (on Mac Cmd + Shift + Delete), select Cached images and files and confirm. Then refresh.
Board is blank, frozen or lags: turn off hardware acceleration (see “Fix a black or blank screen”) and restart the browser.
Update Chrome or Edge to the latest version, or try the other of the two browsers.
How to use the whiteboard tools: see Fluentbe Presentations.
Help my student who can’t hear me or can’t join
Send your student a message in Messages with what to try: refresh the page, close Zoom, Teams or Skype, open the lesson in an Incognito window, allow the camera and microphone (padlock icon next to the address bar), and use Chrome or Edge.
Wait in the classroom until the scheduled end. If the student doesn’t manage to join, they are marked absent and you are paid.
The student has a problem in every lesson? Ask them to write to [email protected].
Leave a lesson early because of a technical problem
Write to us in the chat with proof: a screenshot or a short description of the problem.
Time missing | What happens |
Less than 20 minutes | Make up the time in the next lesson. |
More than 20 minutes or over half the lesson | We cancel the lesson. With proof, there is no deduction. |
❗ No proof? We remove the deduction only if it’s your first late cancellation in the last 6 months. Otherwise we decide case by case.
All deduction rules: see Deductions – illness, outages & emergencies.
